This story doesn't start as a vendor, but as a client. More than 15 years ago I worked with a CPQ system myself, with all the upsides and frustrations that come with it. That experience eventually brought me to Sofon, who at some point asked me to come on board as a consultant.
Client, consultant at the vendor, and now independent specialist — that combination of perspectives gives a complete picture of what a CPQ model really needs to keep working.
That combination of perspectives led me to a clear conclusion: clients are better served by a personal, specialised firm than by a large, impersonal software company.
